Tuross Fishing Club April Goblet Report

A perfect weekend of weather for fishing for our members. I have finally got the weather gods on my side. It was a pleasure to be on the water on Saturday. Most members decided to fish in the lake . David Backhouse even ventured out to the shelf in search of a Marlin. Didn't catch one but said they saw a Marlin leap out of the water. A great sight to see.

Our winner for this month's Goblet " DRUMMER" went to Merv Roberts who braved the rocks to catch a 37cm Drummer worth 100 points. Merv's fish also won him the Rock and Beach award.

No winner for Ladies Rock and Beach.

Mens Outside was won by Allan Backhouse with a 45cm Flathead worth 67.5 points.

Womans Outside was awarded to Rachel Weatherby with a 50.6cm Flathead worth 85 points.

Mens Lake and Estuary winner was Neil Alexander with a Bream 31.5cm worth 73.36 points.

Womens Lake and Estuary was won by Pam Alexander with a Bream 32.7cm worth 81.36 points.

Junior prize went to Christopher Westbury catching a rare Red Morwong 39.5cm worth 61.64 points.

Mystery fish prize No. 24 "TREVALLY" was won by Jeanie Dixon.

The Number of fish recorded was 37 with 14 different species being caught. 12 Members recorded fish for the weekend.

Turkey of the Month was awarded to Scott Westbury. Young Christopher gave a great description of how his father failed to net a large Blue Groper off the rocks. Christopher had hooked this fish 4 times and finally managed to get the fish to the surface but Scott failed terribly to net this fish which managed to break free. And forgetting to unhinge the trailer before leaving to come to the BBQ. WE wondered why you were a bit late Scott. Well told Christopher. Poor dad.

Next Month's fishing competition will be held from May 19th-20th 21st Golet fish is SNAPPER.

A Highly contested award amongst our members.

Regards Neil Alexander Competition Secretary.
