Traffic South launch Strikeforce Summer Safe

Traffic South, part of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, have launched Strikeforce Summer Safe for another season in response to the expected increase in visitor numbers to the South Coast and surrounding regions.

Strikeforce Summer Safe will deploy additional Highway Patrol resources and provide an increased Police presence in the Far South Coast, The Hume and Illawarra areas.

Officers will be undertaking enforcement on major highways and roads, along with smaller towns and local villages. These additional Highway Patrol Police will be focused on road policing and supporting the local police districts over the busy summer months.

Police will be targeting drink and drug driving, distraction offences and dangerous driving (The Four “D’s”), including speeding. Police will be out in force and taking all necessary action against those who place other road users and the community at risk.

With the increased volume of traffic on the roads over the school holiday period, including day-trippers and holiday makers, motorists are urged to obey the road rules, have patience and take regular breaks to ensure they get to their destination – and back home – safely.
