Rice introduces the Greens' Ending Native Forest Logging 2023 Bill to the Senate

Senator Janet Rice has just introduced the Greens' Ending Native Forest Logging 2023 Bill to the Senate. The Senator says "If passed, this bill will immediately halt the destruction of Australia’s precious native forests and close the loophole used by the logging industry to skirt our national environment laws. "The Greens Bill will repeal the Regional Forest Agreements, which have allowed for decades of reckless destruction of native forests across Australia, pushed native wildlife to the brink of extinction, endangered our water supplies, heightened bushfire risk, and made the climate crisis worse. "The logging industry should be subject to the same environmental standards as all other industries. If they think there's a case for destroying forests and killing threatened species, they should be forced to apply under the EPBC Act. "The Government has a responsibility to stop this destruction, protect native forests and fix our broken environment laws. "It’s time Labor stop prioritising corporate profits and industry lobbies over people and the environment. It’s time to end native forest logging in Australia", the Senator concluded.
