Batemans Bay Rural Fire Brigade report:
Last night just after 11pm, we were called to reports of a bush fire on Ridge Road. After investigating the area, we found a car alight at the top of Glenella Road, Catalina. Crews got to work extinguishing the fire with a second appliance from our station not far behind.
South Coast Police District were in attendance and are making further investigations.
8/8/19 2:13am P384 and P384s called to grass fire South Head Road, Moruya. On arrival we met the informant who rang 000 showing us where areas of grass were burning along the road edge.
Firefighters blacked out several small grass fires.
The Station advise that if you see anything suspicious or know anything about these deliberately lit fires please call crime stoppers as these small fires could have easily been bad fires "if we had gotten the wind that is forecast had they not been found in time".
