Eurobodalla will move DIRECTLY to level 3 water restrictions on Monday 2 December.
Eurobodalla Council’s director of infrastructure Warren Sharpe said moving directly from level 1 to level 3 made sense given current conditions.
“The lack of rain and any flow in our rivers means we are reliant on the Deep Creek Dam to supply the shire with water,” Mr Sharpe said.
“Given the dry outlook for summer, it will be easier for our community to transition directly to level 3 restrictions than jump through the levels before the busy holiday period.”
Mr Sharpe said Deep Creek Dam was currently at 66 percent capacity, and current trends showed it dropping at about 1.5 percent each week.
“Securing our potable water through summer will need the whole community to pull together – that’s residents and visitors, households, business and government – with information on what is and is not allowed tailored to each of those groups. For example, welcome cards in tourist accommodation let visitors know water restrictions are in place and encourage them to conserve our water.”
“For locals, level 3 restricts outside water use to a hand held hose for up to an hour per day between either 6-8am or 6-8pm. Boaties will find water has been turned off at the boat ramps and they’ll need to flush their motors on the grass at home.”
He said level 1 restrictions were very much about educating the community on wise water use.
“That will continue under level 3 restrictions, but we’ll be tougher on those flouting the rules, including on the spot fines,” Mr Sharpe said.

Level 3 Water Restrictions
· Watering gardens and lawns: One hand-held hose, maximum 60 minutes per day between either 6-8am or 6-8pm.
· Fixed sprinklers, micro-spray systems, unattended hoses: banned.
· Drip-irrigation systems: banned.
· Washing hard surfaces including decks, paths and driveways: banned.
· Washing private vehicles including cars, boats, bikes and trailers: On grass areas using buckets between 6-8am or 6-8pm. Final rinse with trigger nozzle hose.
· Boat motor flushing: on grass areas.
· Boat ramp facilities: motor flushing prohibited, rinse fish and cleaning tables with bucketed salt water.
· Filling new private pools and external spas: banned
· Topping up existing covered pools and external spas: one hand-held hose, maximum 60 minutes per day between either 6-8am or 6-8pm.
