Currowan Fire update 12 noon Dec 2nd

SOURCE https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fires-near-me An emergency warning is in place for the Currowan Fire, burning north of Batemans Bay. The fire has burnt more than 11,500 hectares and is not yet under control.

Current Situation

Fire activity increased over the evening due to strong westerly winds. The fire is spreading quickly in an easterly direction and has spotted across the Princes Highway in to the Murramarang National Park in the vicinity of T-Ridge Road.Fire activity is increasing this morning.The Princes Highway is closed between Turmeil and the Kings Highway turnoff. This has cut access to coastal communities. Check www.livetraffic.com for updates.There is a significant amount of smoke in the area.Firefighters are working in the area to protect properties where possible.

Advice

Areas west of the Princes Highway between Termeil and East Lynne

Seek shelter as the fire impacts. It is too late to leave.

Areas between Kioloa and North Durras, including Depot Beach, Pebbly Beach, Pretty Beach and Bawly Point.

It is too late to leave. Take shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

Termeil area

Leave now towards Ulladulla if safe to do so.

South Durras area

Leave now towards Batemans Bay if safe to do so.
