Couple Of Dark Horses Take Out American Foursomes

Seventy one players entered for the day's American Foursomes event, the large number possibly reflecting a break from weeks of smoke and ash on what was a beautiful morning for golf. Winners on the day were the the pairing of Herb Muriwai and Mike Birks with a fine nett score of 32.125. They beat home Solveig Olsson and Ken Brown on 33.37, Kaye and Ron Lunt with 34.50 and then Kevin Dukes and John Cox with 34.62. Balls or chocolates went to Dorothy and Blaise Madden on 35.12, Leonie Snodgrass and Bruce Martin on 35.375, Annette and Ian Manton with 35.675, Jennifer Gray and Andrew Gordon on 35.75, Steve Collins and Frank Pomfret on 36.0, and finally Ross Davidson and Neil Mather on 36.125.

This week's infamous Bradman award was won by relative newcomers to Tuross Vets Jenny and Kevin Reilly (clearly the handicapper needs to do a better job!). Neil Mather took out NTP honours on the 4th, whilst other winners were Steve Collins on the 6th, and Julie Barningham and Ian Manton on the 7th. Richard Wharton won the Accuracy drive award on the 5th hole.
