Boat sinks in Narooma

The NSW Maritime local Boating Safety Officer was the first on the scene to rescue three people and a dog after their vessel sank at Narooma. Luckily all three were wearing lifejackets, but unfortunately it is suspected that the boat is a write-off after the transom came off completely. NSW Maritime advise "It's an important reminder to thoroughly inspect your vessel for rot that might have crept in since the last time you took it out!" The sunken vessel has since been professionally recovered due to concerns about the potential effect of fuel pollution on Narooma's waterways, in particular on sensitive local oyster farms. Thanks to Marine Rescue NSW who activated the May Day call and Mal's Slipway and Boat Repairs who sprang into action quickly to remove the navigation and pollution hazard.
