The Bay Post - Moruya Examiner has confirmed that it will be reduced to one edition per week beginning today and that The Independent will return to some outlets on Thursdays. In early 2020 the twice weekly Moruya Examiner and weekly The Independent ceased publication and disappeared overnight without apology nor explanation. A mixed newly merged Bay Post - Moruya Examiner masthead was created for marketing purposes to retain a Moruya readership.
Disappointingly the Bay Post - Moruya Examiner recently downsized to delivering only sixteen pages. This had resulted in a backlash from the community who no longer see the value in paying for a newspaper that is nearly 50% national advertising, sharing cloned stories from across the region.
To now reduce the once proud mastheads to a weekly edition at sixteen pages is considered a risky move.
