Animal Welfare League news

JULY IS DE-SEXING MONTH

There are figures around that say that if you have a male and female kitten of approximately four months of age and they, and all their offspring, are not de-sexed, that after a period of 2 years you will have a population of 425,000 felines! Whether these figures are correct to the last thousand is neither here nor there. The fact remains that if you do not have your cat de-sexed, there will be numerous unwanted and unloved cats who have a life either in the wild killing our beautiful native animals or in a cage waiting for a home. It is a myth that female cats should have one litter.

It is also untrue that male dogs are emasculated if de-sexed! They will live happier and healthier lives with less chance of cancer and less chance of wandering and being in a fight or accident.

De-sexing month is supported by numerous vets in the region and by Animal Welfare League and the RSPCA. Speak to your vet for more information.

If you haven’t got your tickets for our Trivia Night Fundraiser, there is still time. It is on Saturday night (15th ) at Malua Bay Bowling Club. Tickets are only $15 and a great evening is guaranteed. Tickets from the Club or phone Jacquie on 0416 402 103
