Clr Mayne says thank you to Citizens Jury

Letter to the Editor

The Eurobodalla Citizen's Jury presented their recommendations during this weeks Council briefing session. Thank you. Thank you to all those involved for your commitment and engagement throughout the process. Your commitment of time over several months, many meetings (including a few long nights), various reports, numerous presentations and much debate has at the very least enhanced engagement, transparency and communication within our Shire.

We hear many stories at present of people, here and abroad, feeling disempowered, and worst of all, not listened to by those in government. Is the Citizen's Jury model the best way to help address such issues? I don't know. What I do know though is that we need to continue to explore ways to encourage participation and engagement through greater transparency. Feedback from those on the Jury with whom I have spoken has been very positive.

I look forward to reviewing the Citizen Jury's work and recommendations, and in working with the other councillors as we explore what this work could mean for our Shire.

Clr Anthony Mayne Deputy Mayor

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand.
