Tollgates Probus Club news

Tollgates Probus Club, Batemans Bay The Tollgates Probus Club November meeting was a very busy one, commencing with the ceremonial cutting of the cake commemorating the Club's 19th birthday. The cake was cut by President Marg Goodwin aided by five past presidents and was later enjoyed by everyone at morning tea.

Next, some of those who took the Melbourne Cup cruise shared some of their experiences including Geraldine Currie's bookmaking encounter when she mixed up the day's feature race (the Melbourne Cup actually) with a minor event but still managed to sting the bookies for $10.

John and Jill Carpenter were then inducted as members and so became eligible to share the birthday cake and finally Meredith Bodell from the Batemans Bay Garden Club gave a very interesting and colourful illustrated talk about her recent visit to Singapore's Harbourside Gardens.

Cutting the cake (L to R): Maureen Kinross, Colleen Connell, Val Leek, Marg Goodwin, Phil Marley, Fay Ashcroft.
