Community Invited To Have A Say On The Replacement Batemans Bay Bridge

From today residents are invited to review and comment on the concept design and environmental assessment of the replacement Batemans Bay Bridge.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said throughout the project’s planning stages, the community has been encouraged to have a say on the location of the new bridge and its features.

“Today, the concept design and environmental assessment incorporating this feedback is available to view.

“The proposed design features an improved Princes and Kings Highway intersection, a new four lane concrete bridge, a three metre share path on the eastern side of the bridge, and an increase in river foreshore space including boating and fishing facilities, car parks and river access for small and large vessels.

“We encourage the Batemans Bay community to continue to provide feedback on the replacement bridge to help shape the final plans,” the spokesperson said.

Four drop-in sessions will be held for the community to review the concept design and environmental assessment; the first on Wednesday 15 November between 3pm and 6pm at Batemans Bay Community centre.

The next session will be held on Sunday 19 November between 8am and 1pm at Batemans Bay Sunday Market.

The remaining two sessions will be held at Village Plaza on Thursday 23 November from 3pm to 5pm

and Batemans Bay Community Centre on Saturday 25 November from 10am to 12pm.

The concept design can also be viewed via a flyover animation available at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/batemansbaybridge

Feedback on the concept design and review of environmental factors is invited until Friday 8 December.

“The Batemans Bay Bridge replacement will deliver on the NSW Government’s promise to improve access to Batemans Bay and the surrounding areas, allow access for larger freight trucks, reduce traffic delays and improve the Kings Highway and Princes Highway intersection.”

The project is funded by a $300 million investment that includes replacing the Nelligen Bridge on the Clyde River.
