Nature Coast Dragon Boat Club of Moruya hosted the official opening of their new club facilities on Saturday with Member for Bega, Andrew Constance, doing the duties on the Grand Opening cake.
The new facility, officially recognised by aboriginal elder Doris Moore first performing a welcome to country then saw Mr Constance speak on behalf of the State of NSW and a Council representative extending the best wishes of the Eurobodalla Council.
Located next to the carpark at the Moruya Pontoon and ramp was made possible by funding from the NSW Governement’s Community Building Partnerships program with contribution from Eurobodalla Shire Council.
Along with club President John Holgate the turnout of rowers for the Grand Opening were delighted with the lockup facility and duly thanked the State Government and Counci l in their speeches.
Interested in Dragon Boat racing, touted to be an Olympic sport? The Nature Coast Dragon Boat club trains every Tuesday evening from 5.30 pm and Saturday mornings from 8.30 am .
You can find them at the boat ramp next to Moruya Pool ideally 15 minutes before paddling start times.
Paddlers of all ages, new and experienced, are welcome to come along and have some fun. They provide free coaching and a friendly atmosphere for people of all fitness levels, skills and abilities.
The first 4 times that you paddle with them is free.
