Hope House residents will be able to cook like the experts thanks to the Batemans Bay Lions Club.
At their annual changeover luncheon held last Sunday the Lions Club donated $1,000 to Hope House which will enable them to buy a new stove and to update some of the kitchen’s benchtops.
Hope House Manager Shirley Diskon accepted the donation on behalf of the organisation.
She told the gathering that Hope House gets very little if any funding from any level of government and this donation will go a long way towards getting the overall upgrade of the kitchen area. She says it should be pointed out that Community Life Inc. is in ongoing discussions with various government departments thanks largely to the Member for Bega Andrew Constance.
Batemans Bay Lions Club President Jackie Harding says that the Lions Club will continue to support local charities and organisations such as Hope House and the Batemans Bay Hospital Auxiliary and will over the coming months be exploring different fundraising ideas.
Hope House provides medium term accommodation for homeless men through co-ordinated programs, assistance and support which helps these men re-engage as contributing members of our community.
Hope House offers directed community living, through a stable emotional and physical environment. Each client has an individual and agreed personal development program.
