Mild Manic, Pretty People to play at Currents

Melbourne-based punk-rock band Mild Manic, along with top local bands Pretty People and Potent Soap, will take to the stage in all-ages gig in Moruya on Saturday 13 July.

Five local high school bands will also battle it out for glory and the chance to record their tune in a professional music studio as part of a local song-writing competition at the event.

It’s all part of Currents, organised by Eurobodalla Council’s youth committee with the support of Music NSW and Create NSW.

Council’s youth development coordinator Zoe Morgan said the scene was set for a top night.

“Mild Manic originally hails from Wollongong and is renowned for high energy shows, while Pretty People and Potent Soap are popular local favourites and will no doubt get the crowd going as well,” she said.

“We’ll also have 15-minute sets from bands from each of the shire’s high schools, so we’re encouraging everyone to come along and support these kids on the night.

“Tickets are a steal at just $15 pre-sale online or $20 at the door.”

Ms Morgan said the event was about giving young people something to do in the winter holidays.

“We also want to give young up-and-coming musicians a chance to play in a professional setting to an audience of their own age,” she said.

Currents 2019 is an all ages and drug and alcohol free event and will be held at the Moruya RSL Hall on Saturday 13 July from 6-10.15pm.

Council is running free buses to and from for concertgoers, with pick-ups from nine northern locations from Batemans Bay to Broulee, and 10 southern pick-up locations, from Narooma to Bergalia.
