Entries still open for Mayor’s Writing Competition

The seed has been sown for Eurobodalla’s young people to get writing, with entries now open for the annual Mayor’s Writing Competition.

The competition is open to young people aged five to 18 who live or go to school in Eurobodalla.

Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes said entries could be in any writing style, including short stories, poems or essays.

“Stories can be about anything - we just want young people to get writing and be imaginative,” she said.

“The only limitation for subject matter is that the word ‘seed’ must appear in the text at least once.

“The judges will be looking for stories that are creative and have a unique plot.”

Entries close Friday 3 May 2019 at 5pm and the winners will be announced by Clr Innes at the Council Chambers in Moruya on Thursday 25 July 2019.

Winners in each section receive a $50 book voucher while runners-up receive a $30 book voucher.

Finalists in each category receive a copy of the Mayor’s Writing Competition Anthology 2019, which will include their work.
