The day Australia cleans is almost here, and there’s plenty of scope for the shire’s residents and visitors to participate in the nation-changing magic of tidying up.
Eurobodalla’s Clean Up Australia Day coordinator Maree Cadman said there was still time to register new sites before the big day on Sunday 3 March.
“Why not register a place that’s important to you? Like your favourite park or walking track,” Ms Cadman said.
“Invite some friends and make it fun. We have groups volunteer year after year.”
The Rotary Club of Moruya always field a team, making a clean sweep along the north bank of the Moruya River, from the bridge to the sea.

Rotarian Ward Hack said the club had volunteered with Clean Up for at least 20 years. Club-mate Lorne Thomas said Clean Up was the one day when you should sweat the small stuff.
“It’s not just the plastic bags and cardboard boxes blown off the road. The bottle caps, discarded straws and cigarette butts – the little litter – must go too,” she said.
Ms Cadman said Clean Up Australia provided all equipment on the day and organised for the rubbish to be removed.
“For those who can’t make it on Sunday, we can register individuals and groups to help clean up on a day that suits them better.”
