St Cecilia Youth Music continues to shine

The Beagle Editor,

Well we surely do have some grand musical talent in the youth of the area and it is surely visible in the St Cecilia Scholarship concert of young people who are vying for scholarship and prizes for their music.

Last Sunday I once more attended the St Cecilia Scholarship concert. I have attended every year, only to be endlessly surprised and impressed by the level of skill and passion our youth convey in their music – both voice and instruments – some as young as nine.

Congratulations to all, for this year and the years to come, to Marianina for the insight to start this scholarship and all those who have kept is so alive these many years. Well done.

I look forward to many more such inspiring concerts, where the young people made excellence look so effortless.

Editors Note:

Recognising the disadvantages that local music students face compared with their metropolitan counterparts the Eurobodalla St Cecilia Music Scholarship association was formed in 1995 to provide assistance to young musicians in the area.

Initially the awards were restricted to students from the Eurobodalla Shire but as interest in the scholarships widened to neighbouring Shires the ESCMS changed its constitution to encompass neighbouring Shires in the Region.

Twelve St Cecilia Youth Music Scholarships have been awarded
