In the tri-weekly interviews done by ABC South East with local Shire Mayors today saw Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes speaking with Simon Lauder discussing proposed Level 2 water restrictions to come into play in December along with the calls for community input into flood planning with the Mayor advising everyone to be aware and how flooding might impact where they live and advise that Council is currently gathering anecdotal evidence of flood history to correlate with its modelling.
Simon raised the issue of flooding impacts driving up insurance premiums and encouraged the Mayor to expand on sea level rise and how it impacts local communities.
In regards to the Coastal Management Plan Council is preparing the Mayor offered that it would give “clarity and confidence going forward forward to know just what they are dealing with and take some of that concern out”
When asked about the ongoing concerns around the as yet unendorsed Rural Land Strategy and the local visitation by State Labor representatives attending a public meeting in Mogo the Mayor said
“I’m very very concerned that there are some out there in our community are driving this from an extreme point of view and I think that that is a dangerous area for people to be involved in. I am also concerned that some of the misinformation they are putting out there is feeding this concern within our community”.
