Our Community Giving Our Farmers The Lions Share

It is widely known that farmers are experiencing the worst drought they’ve endured in their lifetime.

Some have reported churning through $1 million in a year just trying to feed their livestock. Some are culling animals to counteract the cruelty of stock dying from starvation.

What some people don’t know is that the Lions Club Need For Feed program has been running for many years, supporting drought or fire affected farmers since 2006.

The Lions Club united districts that span from the boarder of Victoria, right up to Sydney and out to Yass have raised $603,000.00 to date. Plus, they have supplied drivers and stock to farmers throughout NSW.

The Batemans Bay Soldiers Club wanted to assist in any way they can and looked to the Lions Club as a beneficiary to help our farmers in need. They proactively ran a 5 week collection promotion to help the farmers through the Lions Club “Need for Feed” program.

“We pledged a donation of $5,000 and asked our members and guests to contribute to this worthy cause. We are absolutely amazed at the generosity of our members, guests and broader community that have contributed $4084.95 in a 5 week period” says Paul Biddlestone, Batemans Bay Soldiers Club CEO.

Bringing the total donation figure to $9084.95

“Lions Club President and Club members would like to thank the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club, their members and guests for their willingness to help our struggling farmers and families who are experiencing the devastating effects of this severe drought” says Jackie Harding, Lions Club President.
