A woman has been charged with dangerous driving after she allegedly overtook four vehicles and barely avoided a head-on collision.
The charges come under Strike Force Puma, which was established by the NSW Police Force Traffic and Highway Patrol Command to target high risk drivers who pose a significant threat to the community.
About 4.30pm on Monday (18 June 2018), a woman driving south on the Princes Highway, Falls Creek when she allegedly attempted to overtake four vehicles in front of her on a single lane where overtaking is illegal.
Upon seeing three cars travelling in the opposite direction, the 47-year-old woman veered back into the correct lane and braked harshly to avoid a head-on collision.
Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command commenced investigations which led to charging the woman with drive in a manner dangerous to the public and negligent driving.
She will appear at Nowra Local Court on Monday 13 August 2018.
Strike Force Puma will focus on drivers with a history of licence offences and a repeated history of drink and drug driving offences, and drivers with extreme and erratic behaviours.
The team will also investigate and prosecute motorists using information received from law enforcement agencies as well as video footage from sources such as social media and dash cam.
