The crew of Batemans 30 has successfully located a 6m runabout with two people on board stranded 18 nautical miles off Congo on the NSW Far South Coast.
The rescue vessel has taken the small boat under tow in favourable conditions and expects to reach Batemans Bay about 7pm.
The two boaters were stranded on board a 6m open runabout with a failed engine about 18 nautical miles east of Congo on the NSW Far South Coast.
Rescue vessel Batemans 30, crewed by Mick Kelly, David Murn and Warren Lewis, headed to the site, 20nm south of Batemans Bay. Watch officer Liz Rankin is providing communications support from the unit's radio base.
The water pump in the runabout's engine is reported to have failed. With the water too deep to set anchor so far offshore, the boaters are displaying a V sheet emergency signal to help guide the rescue crew to their location.
