Funding Boost For Eurobodalla Naidoc Celebrations

Member for Bega Andrew Constance has today announced $1,500 will be allocated to organisations in the Eurobodalla to help celebrate NAIDOC Week in 2018.
 

 

Mr Constance is pleased to advise the following organisations that they have been successful in their application for the NSW Government’s NAIDOC Week Grants:

Bodalla Local Aboriginal Land Council will receive $1,000 to run NAIDOC events this year which will include the establishment of a Hall of Fame by honouring our Elderly women and school-based activities with Bodalla Public School.

Tilba District Chamber of Commerce Inc. will receive $500 for their NAIDOC Week Exhibition and Storytelling Presentation and will include an afternoon tea.

“NAIDOC Week is an important opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the tremendous achievements of Aboriginal people here in the region and all across the state,” Mr Constance said.

“I look forward to seeing the success of these NAIDOC Week celebrations.”

Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Sarah Mitchell said more than 120 grants have been awarded for NAIDOC Week 2018, which runs from 8 to 15 July.

“I am very much looking forward to NAIDOC Week and all of the celebrations across the state and I am particularly excited for this year’s theme, ‘Because of her, we can!’” Ms Mitchell said.

“The NSW Government is proud to support the recognition and celebration of Aboriginal women under the NAIDOC Week theme for 2018 and we are committed to continually recognise the contribution and achievements of Aboriginal communities right across the state.”
