Bay Boars Wrap

The Boars returned to the winners circle with a nail biting 34 to 33 win over the Rams in Yass on Saturday in round 3 of the South Coast Monaro competition.

The team were low on numbers with a number of withdrawals in the lead up to the game, and with players arriving to the ground as the whistle blew, you could understand the reason for a slow start to the game, trailing 14 to 7 midway through the first half. However, once the players settled in, it was the Boars who would start to find momentum, and with 3 converted tries to their name they went into the sheds at halftime 21 to 14 in front.

The second half restart couldn’t have started any worse for the Home team, with some scrappy play and a charge down seeing Max Harrison scoring to extend the lead further. Another converted try, penalty goal and 27 unanswered points later, and the Boars looked like they would run away with the game.

The Rams didn’t give up though and they started to apply some pressure and points, and found themselves lining up a penalty goal on the full time siring to win the game.

Fortunately for the Bay the attempt was unsuccessful, and a bonus point win was awarded.

Great effort by the team considering they had no reserves, and they will take great confidence in to another away game against competition new comers ADFA.

Best for the Bay were Jim Thomas, Sean Bow and Lindon Blissenden.

Batemans Bay ‘Boars’ 34 (Lindon Blissenden 2, Max Harrison, Ashbee Reid, Sean Smith tries, Jim Thomas 3 conversions and 1 penalty goal) defeated Yass ‘Rams’ 33
