Fiona Phillips Writes To Scott Morrison - Calls On The Government To Match Labor’s $50 Million Commi

Labor Candidate for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, says she has written to the Treasurer, Scott Morrison MP, calling for bipartisan support, for the Government to match Labor’s $50 million commitment towards the construction of the new Nowra Bridge, in the upcoming Budget.

In her bridge budget submission, Fiona Phillips also called on the Treasurer to match Labor’s policy requiring one in ten jobs on major public infrastructure projects to be a local apprentice.

“Twelve months ago, Bill Shorten came to Nowra for a town hall meeting. Bill listened to local residents, councils, businesses and organisations. Not long after a commitment was made of $50 million towards the construction of the new Nowra Bridge”, Fiona said.

“Over the last twelve months, Ann Sudmalis has been playing “catch up”. We’ve seen every type of charade possible, but still no actual funding. People in Gilmore deserve better”, Fiona continued.

“That’s why I’ve taken the step to write to the Australian Treasurer, Scott Morrison MP, asking for bipartisan support, for the Government to match Labor’s $50 million commitment towards the construction of the new Nowra Bridge, in the upcoming Budget”, Fiona said.

“I’ve also asked the Treasurer to match Labor’s policy requiring one in ten jobs on major public infrastructure projects to be a local apprentice”, Fiona concluded.
