Following the previous Sunday’s wash-out, Coila provided good sailing conditions. The breeze started at around 15 knots and eased during the day, so only one sailor (who won’t be identified here) took a swim.
For the first race, a series of three one-lap sprints was held, with the intention of giving plenty of starting practice to those sailors who are going to compete in the Wallagoot Lake Boat Club Regatta this coming weekend 10-11 March.
Chili (Ben Woolnough) took out two of the three races, and KoolKat (Alison Philip) won the third, so the composite result went to Chili from KoolKat then Knockout (Rob Currall). The Laser Radial Lily (Richard Dreverman) claimed Division 2 (monohulls).

The second race was sailed over a conventional triangle-and-sausage course, and it was Knockout who made a great start and led all the way. However, the real contest was taking place between the two Maricats Chili and KoolKat. KoolKat got the better start and Chili chased her all the way but never quite managed to overtake. It seemed her skipper was missing his usual crew to do the hard work for him. Again, Lily took out Division 2.
