More time to comment on recreation and sporting strategy

Eurobodalla residents have more time to comment on Council’s draft Recreation and Open Space Strategy.

The decision to extend the public exhibition period until 14 November was taken at Tuesday’s council meeting.

While there has been a strong response so far with 58 submissions received from residents, councillors determined that the community should have more time to look over the documents and provide their thoughts and comments.

The community-driven strategy outlines Council’s future plans for playgrounds, community halls and centres, sporting fields, parks, reserves, and nature recreation areas.

It was developed by consultants who spoke with more than 400 individuals and 20 sporting and community groups in the development of the plan.

Minor amendments and technical errors already identified in the draft will be updated on the exhibition web page and incorporated in the final draft.

The strategy aims to provide a coordinated and open approach to recreation planning and delivery in Eurobodalla.

The document is divided into twelve localities which take into account the local pressures, needs and characteristics of each area.

Residents can look at the whole strategy or just their neighbourhood and the areas that interest them.

Once adopted, the strategy will provide the supporting evidence to allocate community resources and secure funding for recreation and sporting infrastructure priorities over the next ten years.

The full strategy and 12 locality PDFs are available at www.esc.nsw.gov.au

Council welcomes feedback to the draft plan until close of business on Tuesday 14 November 2017. To make a submission, email council@esc.nsw.gov.au, write to PO Box 99 Moruya 2537, or use the online feedback form
