Turn rubbish into reward for ReVive Art Prize

It’s time for south-east residents to unleash their inner artists for the 2017 ReVive Art Prize.

Entries are now open for the annual art competition, which offers creative people the opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle their way to $4000. Works must be produced from at least 80 per cent reclaimed or recycled materials and can be in any medium, style or theme.

The prize is open to all artists, craftspeople and creative makers who live in the Bega Valley, Bombala, Boorowa, Cooma Monaro, Eurobodalla, Goulburn Mulwaree, Harden, Palerang, Queanbeyan, Snowy River Shire, Upper Lachlan, Yass and Young Shire Council areas.

Council’s Coordinator Creative Arts Development Indi Carmichael urged the community to get on trend with their trash.

“Give yourself the gift of garbage and don’t let your old rubbish go to waste – ReVive it,” she said.

“First prize wins $4000, and there is a $500 People’s Choice Award up for grabs. We are also bringing back the popular ReVive Artist Workshops with eminent artist Katy Goddard, so everyone can get dexterous with their debris.”

Entries close Monday 9 October 2017. The winner will be announced at the opening night of the ReVive exhibition, 6pmThursday 9 November 2017 at Mechanics Institute, Page St, Moruya.

Prize guidelines, entry forms and workshop details are on Council’s website – just type ReVive Art Prize in the search bar.

ReVive workshops return

Eminent local artist Katy Goddard will lead two ReVive Artist Workshops this month.

Back by popular demand, the workshops aim to inspire creative people to rework materials from the waste stream.

Ms Goddard will guide participants through the creative process, leading to the creation of a unique and personal work of art.

The workshops cost $44 and will be held at the Surf Beach landfill Buy-back Centre on Tuesday 15 August and Wednesday 16 August from 9am to 3pm.
