Organisers of Batemans Bay and Districts Past and Present say Thank You

The Committee of the History of Batemans Bay and Districts Past and Present would like to thank the people who attended the Reunion and Sunday picnic last weekend. The night was a resounding success with over 330 people attending. The room was a buzz of reminiscing all night long, with stories told and retold.

The night began with Joe Smith welcoming the crowd and especially those who travelled from afar. Then Muriel Slockee welcomed the crowd and recited the Lords Prayer in the language of the Yuin people. This was followed by the most haunting tune from Rod Slockee on the Didgeridoo. The Mayor, Liz Innes with her Mum Robyn also gave a welcome speech. It was a fantastic beginning to a most successful evening.

We would like to thank the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club for all the assistance they gave us, especially the efforts of Andrea Thomson, and Di Leddy from the caterers who couldn’t do enough for us.

Kmart were so generous in printing all the school photos for free.

Ashley Connell, AJ’s Hotbake, did a magnificent job of the cake. Nothing but compliments there.

With the assistance of the Bay Post and The Beagle and our History page the message got out to everyone.

It was, with the help of all these people, and an untiring committee that the evening was so enjoyable, with the catch cry as everyone left “Whens the next one”.

The profits from the sale of the DVD slide show and the CD of photos will be donated to our local hospital and Museum.

Will let you all know the final outcome when we finish selling.
