A bit of clarity as to where the buck falls

The Editor,

The Beagle has rapidly developed, allowing contributors and others to express

views ( opinions) on many matters, generally those opinions have been about the Eurobodalla Council usually being expressed in a negative way or atmosphere.

They often imply poor performances of Council Staff

In recent months a few of the Shires Residents have expressed very negative comments about the Eurobodalla Shire Council aiming unfairly at Council Staff on matters they are dissatisfied with.

The truth is when things are not occurring to the satisfaction of those raising the negativity, it’s actually not the fault of Council Staff, it’s the faults of all the elected councillors simply because they approve the authority via the General Manager for the Council to function.

That delegated authority is developed and originally authorised by the State Government and supported by all colours of political party’s.

It needs to be remembered in the final wash up of council’s performance and decision making it’s the “Elected“ councillors who are ultimately responsible for all decisions whether or not senior staff make them as a result of “Councillors Delegated Authority” through the General Manager.

It’s very clear some of the critics don’t fully understand the process or the functions of Councillors. It’s also very clear some elected councillors don’t either.

In future when things aren’t occurring to the satisfaction of the shire’s agitators, they need to look at their elected councillors for leadership and delivery performances. They also need to include the Local Member in the list of contacts.
