Narooma Rotary Club has made its first donation to the community-initiated Carers’ Accommodation for the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital (CAERH).
Narooma Rotary President Ange Ulrichsen said the Club’s donation of $3,800 was from the proceeds of last year’s Whale Watching raffle, and part of the proceeds from this year’s Duck Race, all money that has come from the community.
Secretary of the Carers’ Accommodation group Steve Young and Shirley Hayes-Cornish of Moruya Rotary were thrilled with the donation.
“The Carers’ accommodation will be a long term community project over the next three to four years, similar to the Oncology Unit fundraising at the existing Moruya Hospital a few years ago,” he said.
“Proceeds from Rotary’s Easter Saturday Races at Moruya Racecourse this year will also go towards the Carers’ Accommodation project.”
While the new hospital will be totally funded by Government, carers’ accommodation is a community-initiated project. It will be for family who need to be close at hand to someone admitted to hospital.
Mr Young said the project is now able to accept donations from the wider community. For more information, please contact steven.young2537@bigpond.com.
