Ladies Take The Honours At Tuross Head Vets Golf

Forty four players registered for the Tuross Head Veterans Golf Stroke & Putts event on Wednesday 1 March, the game being round 1 of the Tuross Vets championships. Winner on the day was Cathy Milliken, a relative newcomer to Vets, with a nett score of 33.

Cathy was followed home by Shirley Quinlan on 37, and then Tony Crook and Rob Nash with 38s. Minor prizes went to Blaise Madden and Derek Hoare with 39, Steve Gardner and Steve Collins on 40, Paul Pereira on 41, and finally Terry Lunn, Leonie Snodgrass and Chris Wratten with 42. The putting competition was a closely fought out affair with Ian Miller edging out Chris Wratten on count back.

The infamous Bradman award was taken out by Jeanette Miller with nearest the pins going to Leonie Snodgrass on the 4th, Lance Shadbolt on the 6th, and to Annette Manton and Frank Pomfret on the 7th. Bruce Martin won the accurate drive.
