This week’s public resignation of Dr Michael Holland, the Visiting Medical Officer (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) at the Southern NSW Local Health District should ring alarm bells within NSW Health about the adequacy of planning for and delivery of maternity services on the South Coast.
But if you listen to this answer by the Minister, it seems the Government is more intent to blame local health practitioners than to acknowledge the inadequacy of resourcing across the region.
The women of the South Coast are being short changed when it comes to adequate maternity and neonatal services and the Government seems intent to shoot the messenger.
