“Hope Rising” : Opening: 3pm, Sat 18 June

“Hope Rising”

An exhibition of art made by refugees who are stranded in camps in Indonesia.

A fundraiser hosted by Refugee Action Collective Eurobodalla and Asylum Arts as part of this year’s Refugee Week.

Asylum Artists are creating their best life in challenging circumstances. These are artists living in Refugee Detention who understand that negativity cannot coexist well with creativity. They choose creativity.

Each artist creates a daily schedule that keeps them from sadness and despair and instead fill each day with painting. Their mindful, creative routines have allowed them to live through up to ten years in detention.

There will be more than 50 works by 10 refugee artists plus a few works by local artists, who create works about refugee issues. The works by the refugee artists will be accompanied by a photo of the artist at work and information about their situation. All proceeds from the sale of the artists’ work will go directly to the artists in Indonesia.

Opening: 3pm, Sat 18 June

Opened by: Lou Robinson, a local resident with long experience in refugee settlement and international aid.

Opening Hours: Wed to Sun, (closed Mon/Tues) from 10am to 2pm, Friday 17 June to Sat 2nd July
