The 19th February 2020 saw DPI Fisheries transmit a media release of their proposed location.
Adam Martin of the Euro Fishing Association now says "Since then many in our community have questioned the soundness of the location.
"Take a look at the map prepared by Euro Fishing Association below.
Site 1. "Is the original location where the local recreational fishing community leaders, after much discussion, decided was the best location. Just outside the Habitat Protection Zone in approximately 60 metres of water. Many concerns were met with this location including safety of fishers and launch locations.
Site 2. "Is the recent official proposed location well inside the general use zone, in 43 metres of water perpendicular to the airport wind sock. The closest access is the notorious Moruya Bar which is in dire need of dredging and proper boat ramp facilities.
Adam notes "At this point we should point out that artificial structures like the Pelagic Towers are not permitted in Habitat Protection Zones that are being overtaken by urchin barrens and must have a 500 metre buffer from them.
"However, you will note that the construction of the much needed new Batemans Bay bridge is well and truly inside the HPZ."
"In regards to sites 3 & 4. These two were the other locations considered in 55 to 60 metres of water. However they were quickly dismissed due to inept and conservative legislation.
"We want to hear from you. What do you think should happen? Your taxes and your license fees are paying for this, you are a user payer to access this recreational fishing asset.
