The Federal government has announced the following measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. ▪️ The travel ban has been upgraded to level 4. “The travel advice to every Australian is ‘Do not travel abroad,'” PM Morrison has announced “Do not go overseas. That is very clear, that instruction. For those who are thinking of going overseas in the school holidays, don’t.”
Morrison said it was the first time Australia has ever declared a worldwide Level 4 travel ban. ▪️ 20,000 international student nurses who are in Australia, are going to be available to help and support the health effort right across the country. ▪️ Non-essential indoor gatherings of 100 people or more are banned, effective immediately. Outdoor gatherings are banned from 500 or more. ▪️ Public transport remains essential travel though social distancing should be practiced and people are advised to sit in the back seat of a taxi or Uber. ▪️ The health advice is that schools should remain open. “As a father, I’m happy for my kids to go to school.” - Scott Morrison ▪️ Aged care facilities will restrict those permitted to enter the facility and measures will be implemented to limit visits to certain durations and areas of the facility.
