Sandbags and pumps for the BBay SES

This week at training the SES Batemans Bay Unit had some fun with sandbags and pumps. It might seem timely in light of Cyclone Debbie however the South Coast has its own deluges to deal with from time to time. Some of our members refreshed their skills while others learnt some new ideas and techniques pumping, storing and moving water. Bonus: none of them got wet!

The sandbagging and pumps come into practice when the unit need to divert flood water or use sandbags and plastic to protect houses from water ingress.

Combining these skills with their roof top work last week places the unit's members as being better prepared for the many heavy rain events we have on the South Coast.

If you are interested in volunteering with the unit, please call 1800 201 000 or visit: https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/volunteer/

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
