When war came to Moruya

The FREE historic tour of the World War Two concrete RAAF Bunkers which are located near the current Moruya Airport return in November.

This will be the public "ANZAC Day" event which many could not attend in 2020 due to the Covid 19 isolation laws.

The new date recognizes the six RAAF airmen who tragically died in the air crash on Mullenderry Flat. NEW DATE:- Sunday 1st November 2020.

On this date, 75 years ago a RAAF Avro Anson aircraft took off from Moruya aerodrome. Approximately ten minutes later, this aircraft crashed at North Moruya (Mullenderry Flat) ..... and as a result of this tragic event, six young Airmen were killed.

Gary Traynor, local historian, says "They have NEVER been publicly commemorated or recognized. So we plan to change that and dedicate a memorial to these six men + two who died in a separate air crash during 1943. We will also recognize the three Merchant Seaman killed by a Japanese submarine during 1942."
