Tilba Residents want to engage you in their rich heritage
Did you know that you can decide which projects in your area get funding?
The Tilba Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a new initiative to bring the history of the area to the people by asking for your vote in the My Community Project scheme.
Cas Mayfield, project coordinator says “We have a great wealth of written works, images and knowledge of our heritage within the area but neither locals or visitors have easy access to it. We want to bring all that information to the people in the form of a pop-up museum with engaging displays, audio visual presentations and representations of great collections like the photos of William Corkhill.”
The exhibition is designed to be portable so it can be used as a resource in schools, libraries and any place that wants to exhibit historical records in a manner that allows the visitor to walk through the information to get a feel of how living was in the area from the late 1800’s to today.
The Tilba branch of the CWA, the Tilba Cemetery Committee and Tilba Public School will also be participating in the project to bring their stories into the exhibition. Cas Mayfield also hopes to engage with the Yuin Community and possibly veterans groups as they are an essential part of any history of the area
Voting opened on Monday 15th July and closes on the 15th of August.
You can vote for projects online at www.mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au or you can go into any Service NSW office. The Narooma Plaza office is open 9-3:30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and the Bega office is open 9-5 every week day.
You will need your Medicare card details and to be a resident of the Bega electorate.
