Batemans Bay University of the Third Age (U3A) is about to turn 25. The first meeting was held at the Long Beach Fire Shed in 1997, prior to incorporation on 30 June that year.
Founding member Ainslie Morris is as enthusiastic as ever, “It’s been a great time for seniors to share their learning, there’s a class to interest anyone, my husband Mike and I ran a group called Travel Tales for many years.” Classes include history, art, wine and food appreciation, sketching, dancing, singing, current affairs, and sourdough bread making.
There will be a 25th birthday High Tea at the Batemans Bay CWA on Thursday 30 June at 2.30 PM, members are promised a great party including a glass of champagne. Tickets are $25 and can be secured at the website: www.bbay.u3anet.org.au .
U3A Batemans Bay is the largest organisation for seniors in the Shire, offering a variety of courses to keep members active in both mind and body. Courses are held in Batemans Bay, Malua Bay, Tomakin and Broulee.
