Torched car alarms Guerilla Point residents

Residents of Guerilla Bay were alarmed this morning to discover that a car, understood to be stolen, was torched at Burrewarra Point.

Having sped along Burri Point Rd at high speed the vehicle was driven into a section of bush close to houses and torched.

The fire was alerted across the region by the Fires Near Me App after a resident noticed smoke and reported it to emergency services.

Fortunately emergency services were able to promptly attend, extinguishing the car and adjacent burning native bushland.

It is understood that the driver absconded and was apprehended by Police at Broulee.
