No further COVID-19 cases despite high testing numbers

There have been no locally acquired cases detected in Southern NSW Local Health

District (SNSWLHD) since two cases visited the region on New Year’s Day.

Since 1 January 2021, more than 2,300 tests have been recorded in the region.

“We are thankful for the high testing numbers and the cooperation of close and casual

contacts in our region,” says Tracey Oakman, Director of SNSWLHD’s Public Health Unit.

“Everyone has a part to play to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community. While

we are pleased with the testing numbers, we need to stay extra vigilant.”

SNSWLHD is urging anyone feeling unwell – even with the mildest of symptoms such as a

runny nose, scratchy or sore throat, cough, fever, shortness of breath, headache, tiredness,

loss of taste or smell, nausea, diarrhoea or muscle aches – to self-isolate and seek COVID-

19 testing, so that cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible.

To help stop the spread of COVID-19:

 If you are unwell, get tested and isolate right away – don’t delay.

 Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out.

 Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others.

 Wear a mask at indoor venues, especially if you can’t physically distance
