NAIDOC @Tilba July 13th


 
NAIDOC Celebration in Central Tilba, The Big Hall, Saturday July 13, 2pm
 

 
Story-telling, music, a reading from the Uluru Statement from the Heart and a panel discussion on Reconciliation issues will all be part of the Gulaga Reconciliation Group’s NAIDOC Week event at Central Tilba on Saturday 13 July.
 

 
The event, which is designed around the 2019 NAIDOC theme, Voice, Treaty, Truth, Let’s work together for a shared future, starts at 2pm in the Central Tilba Big Hall. Yuin Community Leaders in Culture, Education, Health and Environment will participate in a panel discussion which will be moderated by Dr Denis Muller.
 

 
Shanna Provost will be the MC. Yuin artist and storyteller, Cheryl Davison will collaborate with singer/songwriter, Annie Bryant, especially for the occasion. There will be a reading from the Statement from the Heart and a display of a Yuin timeline and historic NAIDOC posters.
 

 
There will be an opportunity for a yarn over afternoon tea which will be catered by the Tilba CWA. The Gulaga Reconciliation Group (GRG) comprises Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal volunteers from Narooma to Cobargo who work together to facilitate events that provide opportunities for cross-cultural understanding and friendship.
 

 
This will be the third year the GRG has hosted a NAIDOC event in Central Tilba. Previous events include NAIDOC 2017, Our Languages Matter Exhibition and Morning Tea GULAGA, then, now and forever Summer Storytelling sessions by Cheryl Davison and Annie Bryant NAIDOC 2018, Because of Her we Can!
 

 
High Tea celebrating ATSI women The NAIDOC 2019 event is partially funded by Aboriginal Affairs, NSW, but the event could not go ahead without the generosity of community organisations.
 

 
The GRG is reaching out with personal invitations to Yuin leaders, organisations and communities and to those who contribute to the well-being of and respect for Yuin country and culture. Everyone in the broader community is welcome to attend.
