Motor Vehicle Accident Persons Trapped

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 217 Batemans Bay report:

Motor Vehicle Accident Persons Trapped

Yesterday morning (Feb 22nd 2022) our crew were called to reports of a motor vehicle accident with two persons trapped at the intersection of Tomakin Road and Dunns Creek Road.

Our crew arrived alongside Police, Ambulance and Broulee Rural Fire Service to find one patient trapped in their car by confinement with Paramedics treating him for a minor laceration.

While NSW RFS-Broulee Brigade stood by with a hose line to protect the patient and other emergency services, our crew commenced extrication utilising our hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the rear door and B pillar which allowed Paramedics to safely remove him from the vehicle. One patient was transported with a minor laceration for further observation and thankfully the driver of the other vehicle involved was not injured and able to exit their vehicle prior to our arrival.

Once the patient was freed from the vehicle and the other vehicle was removed by a tow truck from the roadway, Broulee Rural Fire Service applied absorbent to the fuel and oil on the road and cleared the debris allowing the road to be reopened as soon as possible.

This incident was a great display of teamwork from all services to achieve a great outcome.
