Moruya's Stumpy Family pays tribute to the region's emergency service workers

Moruya's Stumpy Family is paying a fitting tribute to the region's emergency service workers

A resident (or residents) of the Moruya area has been dressing up a few tree stumps that are on located on South Head Road for the past 10 months.

And they have a FB page "The Stumpy family at Moruya" with nearly 200 followers

They also have a Miserable Nasty Little Petty Minded Grinch who comes in the dead of night and strips them all naked.

In the dead of winter, dressed up warm, The Stumpy Family wrote

"Well......we came back today and we were so happy to be dressed again. But...... It only lasted an hour and we were stripped of our clothes again. We know it is someone who lives very close and was watching but it isn't the house immediately behind us as they love us too.

"As soon as our carers left, they came and ripped everything off. We can't win with this unhappy, miserable excuse for a human being."

The good news is that after a chat with the Mayor, the Stumpy's carers have been given council approval to continue to look after them. The General manager has informed staff that the Stumpys are important to the community and provided they are kept tidy, they will now leave the Family to greet people and make them smile 😍.

Above: At Christmas 2019 the 'Family' posted

"We are safe- just letting all our family followers know. We look a bit bedraggled but we are still smiling 😃 amongst the smoke and drizzling rain😍. Our community in Moruya and Moruya Heads are also safe, with the fires not jumping the river and the water bombers were able to protect the industrial area with constant drops. We are so grateful to all the emergency services from firefighters to the Red Cross workers in the evacuation centres who cared for our community. We know we still have a lot of summer left so stay vigilant everyone!

"And, lastly, thank you to the person who normally strips us bare- thank you for leaving us to bring some happiness at Christmas and now during this trying time♥️ "
