Moruya Flooding: Not as bad as it could have been

Eurobodalla Shire Council reports:

Not as bad as it could have been. That’s the verdict this morning after a weekend of wild and worrying weather.

Moruya River peaked just over two metres ‪between midnight and 1am last night, lower than predicted, but caused minor flooding of the eastern end of the CBD and north Moruya.

We’re not aware of any shops or homes flooded, which is wonderful. The river is dropping nicely now with the tide.

We’ve also had minor flood impacts in Nelligen village.

Our crews are already at work getting these areas cleared and repaired, and inspecting roads and bridges for damage (we only just finished the July flood clean-up).

Flooding in the Clyde, Moruya and Tuross river catchments has had more significant impacts in rural areas west of the highway, including isolating some properties. Thankfully, all river levels are now dropping.

Our thoughts and care are with those cleaning up today

Huge thanks to NSW SES for keeping us safe, and our own crews out all weekend - legends all

Road closures will be assessed and a new update issued later ‪this morning‬.
