Eurobodalla Council is looking to improve its library services and is asking members for their thoughts.
Almost 42 per cent of the shire’s population - 16,869 people - are members of either the Batemans Bay, Moruya or Narooma library.
Libraries coordinator Samantha Fenton said she was keen to hear from a broad range of community members via an online survey, which will help provide direction for future service planning.
She said that by filling out the survey library members could go into the draw to win a $100 gift card.
“We want to hear the opinions of people, not just the regular library users but also those who don’t use it as often and why,” Ms Fenton said.
“The survey will inform our decision making in terms of where we prioritise our efforts - for example whether people are still satisfied with our collection, or whether they want to see more events.”
More than just books, the library also offers access to a wealth of e-books, audiobooks and e-magazines, as well as journals and research tools, DVDs and events.
Ms Fenton said feedback in the past had shown print collections remained a high priority and that the community felt a strong sense of ownership of library spaces.
“We also know that libraries connect communities and reduce social isolation,” she said.
“Libraries are a great place to come and feel a sense of belonging to something. Our focus is on trying to build on that sense of community and libraries being a place where people can feel included.”
