Leave the Bay bridge SHUT

Dear Editor

Evacuation points for those under threat have been set up in various places including Mackay Park in Batemans Bay.

Presently, we have a situation where one business owner runs a ferry up and down the river to and back from Nelligen.

With the bush fire threat coming closer to Batemans Bay, it would be a sensible move on the part of the Innes ferry operator to cease their cruises up the river.

Not only does this disrupt traffic twice daily, causing traffic hold ups, but one can only imagine what it would be like if the lift got stuck, as it has done a number of times before.   This would block emergency service vehicles and all those seeking shelter south of the Clyde River.

This is nothing personal, just seems to me, common sense.

The ferry could do a run around the Bay area instead until the fire threat is gone.

No business should be allowed to operate that may impact on the lives of our community, no matter what the monetary cost.
