A section of Moruya’s Ford Street will be closed next week to allow Eurobodalla Council to undertake pedestrian safety improvements on the busy road.
The work aims to address two safety concerns – increased traffic due to motorists using Ford Street as an alternative route through Moruya, and motorists parking on Ford Street, particularly on market days.
The Council has installed two new kerb blisters – narrow concrete islands that widen the kerb – to reduce the distance pedestrians need to walk through traffic.
A raised platform designed to reduce speed will be installed across the road between the blisters, outside 24 Ford Street (Eurobodalla Family Services).
Ford Street will be closed to through traffic between Queen Street and Church Street from Monday 24 to Friday 28 August to allow time for the concrete to cure. Motorists will need to use Vulcan Street (Princes Highway) to access either side of the worksite.
Affected businesses will be able to access the area between the roundabouts but will not be able to pass from one end to the other.
The work is weather dependent.
